The Walking Liberty design by Adolf A. Weinman is featured on the obverse or head side. Looking closely you can see Wienman's initials are on the hem of Lady Liberty's gown. The obverse also bears the year the coin was minted and inscriptions, "Liberty" and "In God We Trust". The reverse side portrays an eagle design, hence the name, designed by John M. Mercanti. The Eagle is clutching arrows in the right talon, an olive branch in the left. The inscriptions on the reverse side are "United States of America", "1 oz. Fine Silver", "One Dollar" and "E. Pluribus Unum". Silver Eagle coins that have been produced at the United States Mint at West Point since 2006 bear the "W" mint mark.
